Report from “Wheels”:
Here’s a brief synopsis of the hardest 10k in the world. Nice cool foggy start at the beach, the first 300 yards were flat, then it went straight up from there for 2.5 miles. Everyone walked! For some reason, robin was thinking of Auschwitz and firing squads. We both thought we weren’t going to make it to the top. You have to be crazy to hike up this hill not to mention run up it. At the top, we finally got to run on a really thin single track (Matt Davis trail) through dry grass and poppies alongside 1,500 foot cliffs. Every so often we’d go through a shady and wet redwood or eucalyptus grove. Then it was down – switchbacks, stairs, rocks, beautiful views. Next summer we should all do a road trip and do the 27K!
BTW – Robin’s not pregnant in the first picture, and the clock at the end is for the 27k.
