At the Vermont 100 Sandy Beauvais introduced us to her friends, Tammy and John, who she met at last year’s Leadville 100. She later forwarded them links to the race reports from Vermont that were posted on the BS. In reply, John sent the following……
Great write up. If you would send the following passage to the website I (and am sure Tammy) would greatly appreciate it.
Tammy and I would like to extend our most sincere thanks for all of your hospitality and friendship. This was a first for both Tammy and myself on many fronts, the course, the climate, no crew (I will get to that in a moment), using only drop bags and not using a pacer. In some cases we were able to achieve those firsts, but thanks to you all, (in particular Andrew and Rob for crewing at aid station 31 (Andrew understated the impact of the heat and humidity on these old bones of mine in his narrative)) and Brian (Ultra) and Carrie for allowing me to shuffle along with them during the evening, that is until the caffeine kicked in we will have to wait to experience our first crew less and pacer less 100.
While the run itself was memorable, the interactions with all of you folks is what we will always remember from Vermont 2009. Both Tammy and I pretty much train alone or with one another in rural northern New Mexico and a group run for us consists of Tammy and I sneaking up on an errant vacationer trying to run at elevation. To that end, if you find yourselves coming out to the west to run (leadville is only a 4 hour drive) and find yourself in need of anything or a place to stay please do not hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to seeing some of you participating and/or crewing at the leadville 100 mountain bike race and the leadville 100 run later next month. Also, Carrie and others that were curious, I successfully completed the 50 mile silver rush mountain bike race on Saturday in Leadville, but ripped open a heel the process so could not run the 50 mile silver rush run on Sunday. Tammy did run , however, and did a wonderful job despite the hail and lightning.
Again, thanks to all of you for the hospitality and wonderful time in Vermont.
John

Sounds like the beginnings of a Bimblers West movement. Come to think of it, we have a Bimbler moving to Arizona.
