Lil’ Rhody Run Around

I haven’t posted a race report since The Hat……….. so here goes………

Thanks to Allstate for allowing me to run as Virginia Symbathy Zell – and to Shaggy for the cool ride to the race! I was nervous about my most recent ankle injury and concerned that being too careless or too aggressive might prove to be a big problem for me at this one. I don’t have a great track record at this race (I broke a bone in my hand here 2 years ago). I should also mention how much Ticket was missed – it seems it isn’t a trail race without her these days. So I bummed a ride with Shaggy & Scoobie. This was an extremely good choice as they had home made gourmet cookies in their car. YUM!! The Bimbles picked up Suds and then we connected with Mort & Eraser on the highway. We missed some of the regulars from the group but were so happy to see Shelly Girl, Lefty, Charlie, Becky and surprise… El Toro at the parking lot. It was freakin’ freezing at the start as the wind off the lake was totally brutal!! All runners decked out in ORANGE ran off at the “gun fire” start… many rocks, frozen ground, roots, 1 aide station, a few crying casualties, some ice, a tiny scramble, a road or two and presto we were at the finish line!! Scoobie pushed me along as I tried to do the best I could for Allstate (I hope I done ya’ proud sista’).

In the end it was incredible how many Bimbler’s brought home the Bling today!! Did I mention Guthrie still holds the course record? As always I had fun – if you couldn’t be there today – we missed you! As for all of us who ventured to RI – sweet dreams – I know the cold temperatures this weekend will make me sleep like a baby. Great job everyone!! What is next?????
