While running the Philadelphia Marathon I see the half marathon finish to the right and the rest of the marathon continues to the left. To “Mile 14” it says. I was kind of wishing I had done the half. I looked up and I was behind a woman who had a shirt on that said, “Will Run For Cheese”. Having more than half of the marathon still to run, my mind wandered to those Saturday morning cartoons I used to watch in the 70s. (I may be dating myself) There was a cartoon that would come on that was like a service message, I think it was for the dairy council. Timer was the cartoon character’s name and he would say “It’s Time for Timer”. He would sing a little tune that had the lyrics “When your got up and go has got and went, you hanker for a hunk of cheese” in it. It expressed my feeling at that time in the race.
So hankering for a hunk of cheese, I decided to enjoy the beautiful day and the race that I had been able to run that day. The whole experience was great and I would have liked to be faster, but I enjoyed the marathon, the company and the day all the same. It was a beautiful day, the perfect temperature, a fun race course, good friends, and a supportive husband (Brownie Points). All of those things and more made for a memorable marathon. Not a thing to complain about.

Mrs. AJC, did you reward yourself with a Philly Cheesesteak? Actually, it sounds like the run was its own reward. Congratulations.
