Welcome! To: “Sudssie’s Scoop”. This is my very first “Scoop”.
Trail Scoop: Friday 2/24/12 6:00 a.m.
From: Weber Woods (Cockaponset State Forest) – Westbrook, Ct.

There is over two inches of snow on the ground this morning! Yesterday’s highs were near 60 degrees! Anyway my commute to the usual Friday morning Westwood’s run was aborted at the first exit I came to on the highway. The roads conditions were slow and dangerous so I decided to do a solo Weberwoods run which is just up the road on rte. 145 in Westbrook (East Bimblershire, Middlesex County, Ct.). This is one of my favorite spots in this area. There is a great fast four mile outer trail loop here which connects with the Quinemay Trail: Quinemay Trail Map PDF Link
The trail conditions were wet with a nice grip in the 2 plus inches of wet snow. Making the first tracks on the trail after a snowstorm is so cool and fresh. The beauty of the snow cover on everything in the woods made for an epic one hour run (bimble). See Friday morning Haiku on the Bimbler’s Sound Bulletin Board; under Bimbles.

I love the new Suddie’s Scoop and look forward to future submissions!
I too am a frequent flyer at Weber Woods and I’m not sure a lot of Bimbler’s have done the full loop so this may be a great find for some.
Guth and I also discovered an adjoining small trail system called Chittenden Hill Preserve in Westbrook. The cool thing about this appendage is that it contains ‘the eyes’ (aka reflective tacks) that can make for a lovely, if not spooky, night time run.
Finally, nothing beats running on new snow….refreshes the soul!
Thanks Sudsie!

Thanks Shellygirl! I am glad you like the Scoop. It something fun to do now that I’m finally in the 21st century with a new home PC .
I have to check out Chittenden Hill and get the scoop.
