The essential conditions of everything you do must be choice, love, passion. Nadia Boulanger

Hmmm…. I beg to differ re: “essential”. I would guess that no more than 20% of my waking day is spent doing things that I choose to do because of my passion about it or love of it. However, I would say that I CHOOSE to spend 80% of my time doing things I am not passionate about so that I can spend the other 20% of my time on things I am passionate about and love doing.
hehg hem… I beg to differ, too. However, it is with Forest in which I pick my battle. I believe the quote is one to which we could/should aspire, though in some cultures, we are weighed down by expectations of how to move about in managing our essential conditions in our lives, falling short of what this quote is suggesting. Merely look to Mr. Gump for the more simple, and, therein, the more fulfulling ways, to find the better path. Choice, Love, Passion. Right on! Nice pick Loopy!!
Even for the 20% sector of life’s pie chart that list of essentials is incomplete- please add courage and integrity. And in Sno’s case- please add clothes.
OK. I have clearly been slapped down. Perhaps this depends on how “meta” your perspective is. I was looking at things a little more “micro” than Booman and Snobody. In the end, the whole enchilada is a choice, and if you are not loving the choice, then choose to change.
For the record, I was not complaining about my 80% rule. The 20% makes it worthwhile, for me.
WOOHOO! (I registered for one of those “20%” events today)

BooMan- Here, here! And I might add, I may still enjoy the option to CHOOSE not to wear any clothes! 😉
