Hey Bimblers, well the Boston Marathon training is reaching the conclusion of hard training this week. The last 20 plus miler will take place with the Boston bound group this weekend in Guilford. I was introduced to a very hilly course by Guthrie and Mr. Bimble back in mid-February and just fell in love with the route. While most of our Boston group has run together each weekend for their long runs I ran solo out in this beautiful countryside every other weekend listening to music and enjoying the views. I would often turn my iPod off to listen to the sounds of the rushing water on the many streams along the course. It all seemed surreal.
The stress fracture I started my Boston training with had healed and the many years of frustration of trying to qualify for Boston tucked away somewhere. I believe all things happen for a reason you just can’t see it at the time. While I run these long solo runs I think of all the things I have been blessed with in my life. I think of the many friends I have found through running and how you have all touched my life in some way. If the road to Boston had been an easy one how much of this would I have missed?
This weekend I will take a tour of the Hole in the Wall Camp. I will get to see the place that brings smiles to sick children’s faces. It is nice to know that somehow I have helped and so have you!
All things happen for a reason.
Keep Running,
