“Good Time Running” is the slogan for the Arkansas Traveller and the race yesterday lived up to that description. The race web site describes the course as mostly dirt roads which doesn’t sound too interesting and I was only there because it was going to be the last of the 2009 Slam races following the cancellation of WSER100. As it turned out I was glad I came, I finished 3rd overall in 19:11 or there abouts but even though my result was good, I would still have had a ‘good time running’. Bimblers Bash 10k
The Bimblers Bash 10k is an entirely off-road loop within Westwoods, Guilford made up from a series of interconnecting single track hiking trails. You should expect to negotiate lots of rocks, roots and possibly get your feet wet, plus with two rock scrambles be prepared for an adventure! This is a true trail race and the technical nature of the terrain will mean that you will be exposed to the risk of injury. While every reasonable effort will be made to ensure your safety and enjoyment, runners must be prepared to accept full responsibility for these risks.
The Bash course is rumored to be longer than the advertised distance, is this true? Maybe, but this is the Bash and to us “… the distance isn’t significant …” There are 10k’s and then there is the Bash 10k!
A map of the course can be found here (pdf format)
